Plan your trip

Everything you need to know before the river.

Read this the week before your trip. Still have questions? Call the shop and you'll get a guide, not a recording.

The day of your trip

  • 01

    Meet at the fly shop

214 River Bend Road in Kremmling, 30 minutes before your start time. We'll fit waders and boots.

  • 02

    Drive to the put-in

Ride with your guide, or follow in your car on full days. It's about 30 minutes.

  • 03

    Fish

Your guide rows, teaches, ties knots, and nets fish. You cast.

Bring

What to bring

  • A Colorado fishing license

Buy online from Colorado Parks and Wildlife before you come (16 and over).

  • Polarized sunglasses

To see fish and protect your eyes. We have loaners.

  • Sun hat and sunscreen

The canyon reflects a lot of light.

  • A rain jacket

Mountain weather changes fast, even in July.

  • Layers

Mornings start cold. Avoid cotton under waders.

  • A camera or phone

Your guide will take photos of your fish.

Policies

Cancellations

Full refund of your deposit 14 days or more before your trip. Inside 14 days, we'll move your deposit to another date this season.

Weather and water

We fish in rain. If lightning, high water, or wildfire smoke make the river unsafe, we'll reschedule or refund in full.

Gratuities

Not included. 20% of the trip price is customary, given directly to your guide.

Catch and release

All trout on the Upper Colorado are released. We use barbless hooks and keep fish wet.
